I have bought several of these over the years. If you try to buy a stronger metal pin, unfortunately it will not fit. Only these plastic versions seem to be exactly what Moen wanted to use with their temperature controlled valves. Unfortunately, if you have a gorilla holding a pen, it will break. So a light touch will do (make sure your valve is good and it's very smooth and easy to turn). However, if the valve is corroded or filled with scale due to hard water, the handle can become difficult to rotate and break. Then you have to buy another one.
