Doesn't work with Windows 10 Out of the box

The product description says the Capit encoder is compatible with Windows 10, 8.1 and 7 but the box says it only works with Windows XP/Vista/7 is working. If you install bundled software, the video capture encoder will not install correctly on Windows 10. The XP/Vista/7 software in the box assumes DirectX 9 support, while Windows 10 uses DirectX 11 or 12. As a result, DirectX incompatibility occurs. Video editing screens appear as blank rectangles, making the editing software unusable. There is a workaround for using this package on Windows 10: you can go directly to the MyGica@[.] support page and download the Capit 'driver' and 'software'. packages from the site. For some reason, these packages are compressed as RAR archive files, a format commonly used on Linux and not one of the standard Windows compression formats. After unzipping, the driver and editing software will be downloaded and properly installed on Windows 10. If it seems like a lot of work is needed to make a simple device work properly on Windows 10, it is. After installing Capit Converter and ArcSoft ShowBiz software, they do the job well; The resulting video is clear with decent color reproduction. Unfortunately, the ArcSoft editor used for video encoding is outdated (circa 2009) and only supports MPEG-2 compression, not the more modern MPEG-4 AVC (H.264). Also, the editor controls are obtuse, making simple things like saving a file difficult to understand at first. But the editor has some nice features, including titles and the ability to burn DVDs directly (DVDs use MPEG-2 compressed video), and the USB capture device digitizes @ 720 x 480, which is slightly better than the 640 resolution used x 480 from many competing products and is the nominal broadcast resolution for standard definition (US NTSC) video. It takes a lot of effort to install and use, but it gives decent results if MPEG-2 encoding works for you. The older compression used by Capit results in large data files, 3GB for an hour of MPEG-2 encoded video compared to 1GB for MPEG-4. For most people, something like Elgato Video Capture, an analog video capture for your Mac or PC, iPad, and iPhone, is a white color that costs $60 more but is a lot easier to use and supports MPEG-4.
