Review on ๐Ÿ”Œ Enhance Your Rexing Dash Cam with the Rexing Intelligent Hardwire Kit Mini-USB Port by Susan Klauder

Revainrating 1 out of 5

Don't expect customer service from Rexing!

I've had three Rexing DVRs over the years and always buy their cable sets. Therefore, this review is dedicated to their cable sets and DVRs and contains important information for the user! The most important thing to know about Rexing wire harnesses is that the fuse supplied may not be the correct one for your vehicle. The wiring harness is poorly designed. It's just a simple fact. You must purchase a fuse disconnector (Add-A-Circuit Holder) that uses the correct type of fuse used in your vehicle. (My car uses mini fuses, so their wiring harness isn't even set up properly for the modern cars I own!) Does your car use an ATO fuse, mini fuse, or fuse? Got an empty backup slot? Does your vehicle's owner's manual state which slot is open 24/7? Tip: Door locks and brake lights should have continuous current. There is nothing difficult in it. You can find out. Just make sure you have the right parts before attempting to install a Rexing dashcam and don't expect great customer service from them - you won't get it! Another important thing to remember is that in practice, Rexing harnesses will not and cannot work for modern vehicles. Whoever designed this product has no idea. My car has a stop-start function to reduce emissions and save fuel. Approach the traffic light, the engine stops for a while. Release the brakes, the engine starts and off you go. This is a nice feature once you get used to it. Rexing products are so poorly designed that they cannot handle this function and will overshoot due to the slight power fluctuations that occur when the engine is started. A lot can happen during a reboot of the Rexing DVR! What else do you need to know about Rexing Dash Cams and Cable Assemblies? My first Rexing dash cam had an internal battery that just couldn't handle the extreme temperature swings in the car. If your child, cat or dog can die in a hot car, the battery dashcam can die! I then bought a new car and decided to fit our old Rexing V1P Gen 3 pro into our Honda and buy a new Rexing V1P. Maximum. At the same time, I also bought two new Rexing Hardwire kits for both DVRs! Please note that you will need to purchase an "Add-A-Circuit Holder" for installation. You might as well buy heat shrink tubing for electrical wiring, as Rexing's wiring harness is poorly constructed. (Yes, it really is that bad!) So how is Rexing Max doing? Does the Rexing Hardwire Kit support the camera 24/7? What are my general thoughts? Not impressed! Compared to the Gen 3, rear night vision on the Max is terrible. Rexing is really confused in this area. After 3 days of sporadic emails, Rexing customer support has not even contacted me about this issue. We had some vandals destroy our neighbor's house across the street. Black screen with shadow is not night vision! Next thing to do are firmware issues! I want to use the correct Rexing wiring kit for 24/7 continuous power. The problem is that on newer vehicles the engine stop/start function resets the Rexing Max. Here are the statements about the presence of a supercapacitor. I want a DVR with a big enough supercapacitor and well thought out firmware that will prevent the camera from restarting every time my car stops in traffic! Contacting Rexing customer support became a three-day email game. Due to the pandemic, Rexing has closed its call center. All support is via email. Simply asking if there is a workaround for Rexing Max turns out to be needless frustration for a Rexing rep unfamiliar with their products. Rexing hasn't heard of Zoom, Gmail meetings or call forwarding? Is Rexing reliable? All DVRs have problems! If you have an incident and Rexing works, then it's better than nothing. But I can't say you'll have video if you really need it. I would suggest checking if you have a downloadable video because I've had times when the rexing camera wasn't recording properly. So check back regularly and keep your fingers crossed. Far away, many people complained that there was no video after the incident. If this is hard for you to believe, don't take my word for it, just read reviews of Revain with three stars or less. Based on the experience I've had with the three Rexing products, I can say that reliability is an issue. But I don't know of any DVR that is 100% reliable. I have more experience with Rexing at this point and don't want to be disappointed when dealing with another company and their cheap Chinese made products that are actually not that well designed! Is WiFi reliable? No! Buy a card reader and spare memory and keep them in the glove box. A 1-minute video is 200 MB in size. So if you have a 256GB card, don't expect the Wi-Fi feature to help much. Also, downloading over Wi-Fi takes a long time - you'd really better use a card reader! Rexing apps aren't that great and it will take a while to learn how to download and then save videos. to your device. It's just better to pull out the card and keep it until you get home. Heck, one of the Rexing apps likes to show ads, which isn't the feature I want. If you are not familiar with software and apps, you will have trouble to save the downloaded video on your phone! The Rexing Manual (Quick Start Guide) is a joke. Go to their website and download it. Make sure it fits before you buy. 14 pages of pictures and a few words to fit 2 pages of a text document isn't much of a guide, so it's called a "quick start guide" and isn't very helpful. (I feel sorry for the first time buyer for lack of details and explanations!) Can you read license plates? NO! I had three Rexing products. The video looks good but lacks the clarity to really see the license plate from a distance. You don't get the photo quality that Rexing advertises. Save money and buy the Gen 3! temperature range. The heat/cold/freeze cycle that occurs in vehicles is very severe. Rexing cameras are not very good at this task. (I'm not sure if there are DVRs that can handle the heat in my area.) The number of days the temperature has climbed above 122 degrees worldwide has doubled since 1980. Rexing has not developed a camera that is suitable for our changing world. Does the 24/7 hardware kit really keep the camera on 24/7? NO! It is not! It would be nice if that were the case, but too many times I would walk to my car and find the DVR was off. It just tells me not to rely on the camera when parking. Now, Rexing will be kind enough to email you an excuse that you should buy their hardware kit that fixes all your problems, and then come up with another completely lame excuse when you point out that it did from the start was installed on. The person writing the emails doesn't even understand their products or answer your questions! May I recommend V1P Max? No! Save your money and buy the Gen 3. Rexing HAS NOT MADE ANY IMPROVEMENTS to justify the price! Pay particular attention to the recommendations from Rexing Microcard. For Max, they recommend Kingston microSDXC Canvas Go! A plus. The problem is that, like me, you may find that some cards work and others don't. If you don't pull out the card and try to watch the video, you won't know if there's a problem. This is a problem because Rexing DVRs are not reliable enough. Also, cards wear out over time and need to be replaced. With Rexing, it's really a toss-up as to which card will work in their devices (my Gen 3 is very picky). I just feel sorry for all the newbies posting rave reviews about dashcam or hardwire kits, they don't really have much experience with me. Here is Rexing's last reply to me, which made no sense and was unrelated to any of my emails: Activate parking mode Unlike other cameras, there is no time lapse. So there is a restart problem when restarting the car. Regards The Rexing Team I have no idea why the human wrote this in the first place and it's obvious they didn't read my email or even understand their companies' products. This last letter had nothing to do with my questions! If you want to understand the problem with Rexing manuals and user guides, download them and see if there is ONE explanation of the features the person described in their email. Yes. Your customer service, instruction manuals, instruction manuals are so bad! In summary, the Rexing V1P Max has a few key design and performance issues that its wiring harnesses for 2021 model year vehicles do NOT address. (My car uses low profile fuses which their stupid kits don't have.) Their firmware is poorly designed and outdated and CANNOT work with a modern car's engine stop/start function which is used to reduce emissions and to improve the MPG economy in the city and NO, a poorly designed hardware kit DOES NOT SOLVE and DOES NOT SOLVE this problem as erroneously stated in their email to me. Again, Rexing's customer service is very poor and people don't understand their own products! Save money and buy Gen 3 with built-in GPS. In my opinion, Rexing just changed the firmware and renamed the product. The new firmware has made their product worse, not better!
