The converter worked as advertised and I was able to access old IDE drives. I've also tested SATA drives and even two CD drives from old desktops. You deserve. Then something strange happened: a week later I connected the converter and everything seemed dead. There are no signs of connected drives, and no LED on the converter lights to indicate it's connected. I ended up isolating the power supply as the culprit. I connected another power supply with similar specifications and the device worked as expected. To test, I reconnected the original power supply and again no sign of life from the connected drive. I have written to the Ugreen Help Desk as stated in the product brochure. About a week later I received a reply explaining how to connect an IDE drive. I made sure the drive connection method was correct in my tests. I retested and photographed the setup to send to the support hotline and to be triple sure I retested the connection. This time it worked, with the original power supply. I can't explain the supernatural results, but I wanted to rewrite Ugreen to retract my original request. THEN, TO MY SURPRISE, I RECEIVED ANOTHER EMAIL from Kaya at support.us@ugreen.com to see if I had a problem. that she has gained a regular customer from Ugreen. If I'm looking for a product in the future and see a Ugreen option, I'll have no hesitation in choosing it.
