lost a star for poor setup

Got this to replace a Netgear C7000 which turned out to be FULL PART* Something, overheating and roasting for LESS than 5 MONTHS. This is the first day I've had this Wi-Fi router/modem combo and so far everything has been fine. All I wanted was a WiFi cable modem router that would allow me to work from home and occasionally watch Netflix or play video games during the COVID quarantine. This one seems to do the trick. Hopefully I can provide an update in a few months. (WARNING: I found this out the hard way, some products only allow you to leave reviews for the first 90 days or so, so check your purchases to confirm how much time you have). Honestly, it should be a simple plugin-and-go thing at this point. But it ended up taking a few hours. Let me help speed things up: Page 15 of the manual has websites that lead to activation pages for Comcast/Xfinity, Cox and Spectrum. The link worked, but activation is not for me. I had to call Comcast the next day and have them manually activated. Good. I don't know if it's the modem or the service provider. I don't have much faith in either one or the other. In any case activate first. Then go to the 25th page of the manual and enter the number in the browser. Change your web manager password, change your network name and CHANGE your network password. Did.
