I'm not familiar with brake light wiring so I'm not sure what's needed but the color doesn't change from red to green. I'm pretty sure it needs some kind of switch. What I did was swap a few wires so that when connected the red and green lights come on. When I got this in the mail it didn't come with a plug so I had to plug it in myself. It's only 110v so it's not difficult at all. I hung it in my garage as a prop. I love collecting old vintage signs and such so thought this would be a fun addition. It's made of plastic and seems to be quite well made. The lights are LED so they are really really bright.
