It's made of brass with knurled handles and looks like it could last for years if it's not dropped or abused. The latch slides smoothly after a little lubrication and doesn't leak. Please note that this quick coupling is a closed fitting. If no plug is inserted into the coupling, the valve in the coupling closes the air passage. If you are using it with a tankless pumping system like a tire pump, you don't need to attach it to the side of the pump or the pump will immediately over-pressurize. I placed this coupler on the side of the tire changer and the connector on the side of the tire pump. When I turn on the pump the air just comes out of the spark plug hole and when I put the cartridge on the clutch opens so there is no accidental over pressure. With a tankless system, you have to be careful not to accidentally damage the pump.
