Review on πŸ“» GREATONE Weather Radio: Reliable Solar Crank Emergency Radio with Flashlight, Reading Lamp, and Power Bank - AM FM NOAA Portable Camping Radio with SOS Alarm018WB (Black) by Barry Taylor

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Compact, beautiful emergency radio with many functions; 3 charging methods and AAA backup battery

I got it for two reasons: 1-To listen to AM radio and 2-To have a good emergency radio. I will hardly use it to listen to the radio because the sound quality is very poor. I couldn't get good reception from one of the strongest AM stations in my area. FM seemed much cleaner. I found a clean WB station (weather area). I wouldn't expect top notch sound as the radio is very small and compact. It's great as an emergency radio. You can charge it with a hand crank, although it requires a lot of torque (same difference as most radios charged this way); a solar panel (which I haven't tried yet) or you can charge it from a USB connection. A USB cable is included for this purpose. When the internal rechargeable Li-Ion battery is low or dead, there is a compartment for 3 regular AAA batteries. There is a switch to use either rechargeable batteries or AAA batteries (not included). The radio has two lights. When you lift the solar panel, a bright light comes on. Also at the end of the radio there is a light controlled by a push button switch. Other features: There is an alarm button; There is a headphone jack, there is an external port for charging a USB device (e.g. your mobile phone). I really like this little radio and it has many functions. The ONLY criticism I have is that the tuning and volume controls don't turn very easily; they are very difficult to turn. So I'm deducting one star from my 5 star rating.

Pros
  • Great for me
Cons
  • There are some nuances
