Batteries required for use

Solar part does not work. I left the radio out in the August sun for a few hours and nothing. The device is battery operated.

It's worth a lot. 4 ways to charge it to keep you ok in any emergency. It's great for the price. Also waterproof, not waterproof.

Exceeds expectations

I bought several of these as gifts for my friends and family for Christmas. I bought one too. This is much better quality than I expected for the price. Both the solar charger and the handheld charger charge quickly. I love knowing that each of my kids has a power source to charge their phone in case of an emergency. You can't be too careful these days, and the price is definitely right for peace of mind.

Comparison to other solar radios

Summary: I have reviewed several solar radios so I will compare them to others (listed below). Observations: First I will tell you what all three have in common: a) Powering a lithium battery by solar panels; b) can be used as a USB power bank; c) FM radio. Other differences: a) This one (Greatone) is the only one with dual power, AAA power; b) Lukasa only FM and digital with presets, the other two also work with AM/WBS; c) Lucas also has outdoor lighting; d) es and WDGSSA have manual loadingโ€ฆ

Compact, beautiful emergency radio with many functions; 3 charging methods and AAA backup battery

I got it for two reasons: 1-To listen to AM radio and 2-To have a good emergency radio. I will hardly use it to listen to the radio because the sound quality is very poor. I couldn't get good reception from one of the strongest AM stations in my area. FM seemed much cleaner. I found a clean WB station (weather area). I wouldn't expect top notch sound as the radio is very small and compact. It's great as an emergency radio. You can charge it with a hand crank, although it requires a lot ofโ€ฆ
