I have a 2017 iMac 27 inch so I can only compare this camera to my iMac's built in camera. Here's how I think they compare: Image: The iMac offers a narrower field of view, while this camera has a much wider field of view. The downside to a wide viewing angle is that you appear farther away. In terms of image quality, iMac colors are more realistic. This camera uses higher saturation, making colors appear brighter and more vibrant than they really are. So that the room does not look boring, the exposure of this camera is slightly increased. iMac, this camera has a lens cap for privacy, and with a much larger LED, it's easier to tell when you're "on the air." You can always put a piece of tape on the iMac camera, but this causes the ambient light sensor to dim the screen because Mac thinks the lights in the room are dimmed. Solution: I don't see a big difference. The iMac's camera actually looks like it's producing a slightly sharper image. Although it's not a disposable product compared to the built-in camera and microphone in my iMac, I give this camera the advantage of creating a more pleasing image. It also has the convenience of portability and the ability to adjust the camera angle. The relatively long cord means you can pick it up to point things out to the viewer and place it on a flat surface. The base works well as a stand or easily fits a monitor.
