Review on ๐Ÿ’พ KOMPUTERBAY Professional Compact Flash Card CF 600X 64GB - Extreme Speed 90MB/s UDMA 6 RAW by Kevin Nelson

Revainrating 5 out of 5

My experience with Kmputer Bay 64GB CF in Nikon D800.

I bought an inexpensive alternative after my Lexar 800x stopped working in my D800 and I got stranded in the middle of Alaska. I understand that the product clearly states that it is not supported by the Nikon D800, but it works fine, just a bit slower on large file formats. I save my images in a raw format, which is insanely large by default, but it works great as long as I keep the constraints. I usually focus on wildlife, which is often footage in motion, so I try to push through a series of images. I try to do at least one themed trip a year so I spend a few bills to get there and hire guides and such so I really can't stand component failure. Here are my findings so far (I've gone through about 8k images) Pros: It's very cheap for a 64GB CF. It's fast enough compared to other CFs I've tried. It's a reasonable alternative to Lexar (they really pissed me off). Cons: D800 can run it at around 20-30 fps with really big file formats. Still nervous about the lack of proven quality ingredients in the wild. I plan to switch to the Iditarod this winter. So if it fails due to temperature or harsh conditions I will definitely update my review. I wanted to do a review to at least comment on the statement that the D800 is not supported. It may not be supported, but it certainly works for me, and so far it's worked better than my Lexar 800x, which failed me in the Alaskan woods.

Pros
  • Great design
Cons
  • Crumpled packaging
