Review on 🚜 Pertronix 1244A Ford Tractor Ignitor Kit for Original Distributors - 4-Cylinder Single Point, 12-Volt Negative Ground (Models: 8N 500-800 Series) by Richard Bowens

Used on Ford Model 631 4 Cylinder Gasoline Engine. Installed new distributor cap, rotor knob etc. Also installed new 40,000 volt Pertronix coil. The installation was successful and worked flawlessly for two months. Then the engine cranked but wouldn't start. Guaranteed only by Revain for 30 days. Went to Pertronix. At first they thought they would help. Asked me to check for excessive heat (negative), checked coil voltage (ok), checked spark plug wire type, I had standard metal stranded wire. They said to replace the spark arrestor wires with carbon wires. If so, would they issue an RMA and I could send the defective part back. They will test it and if it is defective they will send me a new part. I asked if swapping the wires would guarantee the new part would work and was told no as there could be many reasons why a part could fail. I have replaced the cables and will be returning the defective part, but I think this is a workaround. If I needed spark plug wires to quell soot, should they have specified that in the first place. All in all, my tractor was at the peak of the season for two weeks.
