I bought this hoping it would be good for pitting giant olives that are grown here in Northern California. This tool works very well with cherries and smaller olives like the ones I grow in my garden. No problem. But the base isn't big enough for the pit to come out on really big olives. Also the angle of the cob going through the fruit is not suitable for large pieces. Also, the end of the plunger is flat, which allows the plunger to slide down the wall of the pit and break the olive. It would be better if it was concave or X-shaped like some other instruments. Since it didn't work for most of my olives, I ended up returning it. But for those who make cherries out of small olives, this will be great, and this is a great tool that will last a long time.
