I love cherries. I hated them until I got this wonderful tool. I ordered this product, it arrived a day early. I immediately started pitting my delicious cherries. It was so easy! Good tool. Looks like a quality device. I personally don't wash in the dishwasher. It has an internal spring which is good. In this respect, there is nothing on the outside that you could touch with a dishcloth or fingers. A safety clasp at the ends of the beautifully curved handles helps with storage by keeping the sponges together. I bought this hoping it would be good for pitting giant olives that are grown here in Northern California.
