Catching an outbreak of ichthyosis in time increases the chance of saving some fish. I had 2 flashes in my 75 gallon reef tank and both were treated with Ruby Reef. My fox rabbit survived both breakthroughs unscathed, while the bandit bull lost his sight in one of them. The second outbreak of ichthyophthyriasis was the worst of the two and required three cycles of aquarium treatment to get rid of just the loss of the fish causing the outbreak and the appearance of a goby. I always keep a large container nearby, just in case, and encourage other fish lovers to do the same for their fish.
