I tried to find a 17 inch gooseneck but couldn't. Went with this one which is only 13 inches tall. This prevented the gooseneck from reaching the windshield. (I have a minivan, so the dash is pretty deep.) This meant I had to use a suction cup on the dash, which has a pebbly texture I was concerned it wouldn't stick due to the uneven texture of the dash surface. To my surprise it stuck perfectly. I still wish it had a longer arm but it seems to work so I'm quite happy. Another downside is that the hand is visible in the reflection on the windshield because its color is darker than my dashboard. That's not a bad thing, I'm sure I'll get used to ignoring them, but I'd rather have a dark gray hand instead of black, that would solve the problem.
