Perfect for our purposes

I got this patio umbrella stand for use under a trestle-base table. It's challenging to find an umbrella base that fit the available space (our prior one was way too big). But this Fruiteam model fit just PERFECTLY, and is ideal for our purposes. It may not be quite heavy enough to hold an umbrella used in a free-standing configuration, but when used through the hole provided on patio tables it is more than sufficient to hold the umbrella in place and keep it from blowing away in a strong gust. We've had plastic umbrella bases before and they haven't lasted very long, but this one is a much stronger variety of plastic than any of the others we've tried in the past, so we expect it to endure a long time. I really like the post that screws into the base, as it has TWO methods of holding the umbrella's pole: one is the standard locking bolt that tightens into the shaft, and the other is a ring that when turned squeezes a locking mechanism on the post which encircles the umbrella pole, securely gripping the umbrella pole without damage. WIth the double-locking setup you don't need to tighten the bolt as far and risk damaging the pole, while still having a secure hold to keep the umbrella fixed in place. On top of all the functional features, this is a very attractive unit, and its compactness (in addition to allowing it to fit in places where larger units may not) prevents it from being obtrusive. Definitely recommended!
