Generally they work well BUT the ceramic base tends to get lost when removing the bulb. In the end, the base got completely lost, only spinning when I tried to pull out a blown lightbulb (which happens quite often, but those are lightbulbs). I had to try to grab it in an odd way and push at an angle to get the bulbs out and eventually one day the wires at the base twisted and broke. Pretty nasty when you have a spark while holding it in your hands and it blows a fuse in the house. We have 2 lamps and the same thing happened to both of them. In one of them, the lightbulb went out a week before the explosion, and we had to turn it a bit to get it to light up again. I suspect that this was due to a broken cable in the base. Seems really unsure. Maybe this is a problem with all lamps with a ceramic base? In any case, if your cord comes loose and spins freely when you change the lightbulb, be aware that the wires are likely to become unsafe.
