Latch - they lied in their description. This lock is not made entirely of metal. The entire interior of the lock, base plate, battery compartment and latch with bolt lock are made of plastic. The latch closure is a cheap plastic handle with a loose fit, I'm sure it will fail soon. Very sloppy, unlike the original Chinese factory version which is all metal with good tight screws. Simple man, you can do better! The key has two pinholes of insignificant depth, which makes it easier to pick the lock. Factory-made in China, the all-metal lock features three pin recesses with significantly different pin depths, making the Chinese lock more secure and harder to pick. I am really very disappointed. I bought this lock instead of the Lion from RVLOCK.com because the lock - this made their lock stand out - was all metal (twice the weight of the Lion) and comes with two key fobs as opposed to the Lion which only comes with comes with a keychain. Big mistake, I'm sending it back. I didn't even bother to program the lock when I realized the bolt latch was so shoddy and cheap and the key offered no security. Don't waste your money. A friend bought a truly custom keyless entry lock that had better security. However, when the numbers wore off the plastic faceplate, they were unable to source replacement parts. They plan to replace him with Leo. I'll order one and see if it's any better than the original factory key system. The good thing about a deadbolt is that the weight of the lock makes the door stronger.
