I have had many shower hoses with the coiled metal sheath. They always have a failure somewhere along the sheath which eventually leads to a puncture of the inside hose. I selected this hose for its length, superior fittings, and most of all, the braided inner hose. I don't have high expectations for the outer sheath, but I am banking on the idea that the longer length will reduce metal fatigue and the braiding on the inner hose will protect from a puncture (at least for a while). The fittings are not usually a weakness, but I definitely respect the compressed fitting over what I have seen on other hoses. The photos are quite accurate to the product I received. A spare set of washers was provided (nice, but not necessary unless the metal lasts longer than my expectations).The comments about reduced flow are slightly accurate. I do notice a very small drop in pressure, but nothing terrible. I would speculate that the built in flow reducers in many showers might contribute to a worse problem with this hose. I always remove the flow restriction on shower heads.
