Review on Dorman 902 109 Thermostat Housing by Ryan Marx

Great replacement but confused about the thermostat

Great two piece part, much better than the original OEM plastic. Easy to install, no leaks. I think the key to no leaks is not to over tighten the 2 mounting bolts. No seal, O-ring. With this setup you will lose about 1/2 gallon of antifreeze, it will spill out the engine side when you remove the case. After reading about other thermostat problems I went ahead and bought a separate thermostat. Everywhere I've looked the thermostat for my 2006 Aveo is listed as 90°C/195°F and that's the one I bought and installed. The thermostat that came with the new case is stamped 87c. I ripped open the old plastic case to get to the thermostat and it was stamped 87c. Confused why the 90c is being sold as a replacement. It was probably necessary to simply install what came with the new case. Everything works fine, no temperature related issues with the 90 degree thermostat. I highly recommend this product.
