I have been in the media transfer business for 20 years. I rarely work with slides, so I decided to go with something more modern than the system I was using. I have to say I was surprised at how well this machine scanned slides. It's not perfect, but it will cost a lot more money to get near-perfect results. The bottom line is that the slide looks good, then the scanned image also looks good. If you're shooting on a cloudy day, the image tends to be dominated by some blue. I've found this to happen when doing 8mm transfers as well. So if you are looking for a cheap way to transfer slides, this is it. The device has some color editing capabilities, but I'd rather do it in something like Photoshop, especially if you have a lot of photos that you want to touch up. I just made a project of 400 slides and the vast majority of the scans were pretty good and usable without editing. There is one negative that catches the eye with this device, no pun intended. The location of the power cord is terrible.! You place it right in the area where your hands are working with the machine. The cable should be routed somewhere in the base of the device and possibly sunk a little. Otherwise, I can definitely recommend this slide transfer device. I haven't used it to transfer images at all, so I have no opinion on that. I hope they fix the USB cable location.
