Review on Efficiently Remove Household 🏠 Contaminants with Culligan CP5 BBS Cartridge by William Stewart

NOT THAT PERFORMANCE

The original CP5 BBS cellulose cartridges that I have previously purchased and used have worked well in our "big blue" whole house filter housing. They kept their shape and prevented the formation of sediment at the water outlet. Current filter cartridges don't have this feature and Culligan seems to be aware of that. If you read the current manufacturer's label, it states that the cartridge is NOT recommended for use with untreated well water. It also says that the filter cartridges are assembled in China. (I don't know if this is one of the reasons, but I'll just add this observation.) I've found that the cellulosic material in the current batch of filters quickly becomes saturated, soft, mushy, and falls apart. The outer filter material breaks down rendering the filter unusable while the inner diameter structure remains intact. Therefore, the filter element needs to be replaced much more frequently than before. Earlier DID filters offer a specified cartridge life of 3 months; Current filters must be changed after 4-5 weeks with the same water requirement. When first installed, these filters actually filter out sediment from our well water. They just don't last! I'll end up using the much shorter life filters I have and finding a more durable filter cartridge for the future.

Pros
  • Replacement Water Filter
Cons
  • Something else
