While it's certainly not the loudest DVD drive I've owned, it produces some of the most interesting sounds I've used in decades. When you insert a disc, or when the system boots up and initializes the disc, the drive sounds like the air brakes are being applied to an 18-wheel vehicle. It's not very loud, but if you're not expecting it, the sound effect is confusing. My rig has liquid CPU cooling and I imagined when I first heard the sound it was steam coming out. When the drive reads from a disc, it makes an intermittent noise similar to a mop being swept across the windshield. The sound is reminiscent of an old full-service gas station. The rest seems to work. The drive was recognized immediately in Windows 10 and did everything that was asked of it without any errors. The software CD is included but I didn't install it because I couldn't read the label (I think it's in Chinese but I'm not 100% sure). Cables, mounting screws, blanks or documentation are not included (although documentation may be present on the disc). It's definitely a no-frills OEM package. But if you're looking for an inexpensive DVD burner for a new build and don't mind the sound of air brakes and wipers, then this is a decent drive for the money.
