. Accuracy is key. It's very accurate; I measured several setting blocks and the deviation was within the specified tolerance. The big advantage is the automatic zero setting. Just do the initial setup following the clearly written, simple instructions. After that, you can use it many times without checking the locked zero point again. One of the control switches allows you to switch between three display modes: metric in millimeters, digital in inches and SAE measurement with an accuracy of 1/128 inch. The only thing I would wish for more is to display digital inches and fractions at the same time, but that's normal, you can toggle between them. The best thing about this tool is that it has NO automatic shutdown or wake up. Each of these functions requires a detector circuit that is always on and slowly drains the battery when stored. I have two other calipers with bullshit specs like this and I have a lot of trouble installing the small dry element before using them and removing it before installing. If not, I'll take out the caliper if necessary, only to find that its button cell is dead. In any case, automatic power down/power on is not required. Anyone who can read the screen can clearly see if the device was off when it was put away. I'm thankful this caliper doesn't have that.
