Review on GROHE 45882000 Ceramic Cartridge - No Finish by Alberto Brewster

Revainrating 5 out of 5

High quality OEM part: Faucet parts

I ordered this ceramic cartridge to stop the dripping on my 12 year old GROHE 20086 Atrio stand/faucet (faucet). The faucet is an obsolete/discontinued/obsolete product and it was difficult to find information online. I finally found information on a datasheet from GROHE that said this 1/2"R, 45 882 000 cartridge was the correct cartridge. Grohe seems to make this cartridge in two different styles, one for hot water (or the hot water side) and one for cold water. This one was actually for hot water, which is what I needed. It turns out that in my case the handle on my faucet just pulls out or breaks off as there are no fasteners to hold it. I have don't forget to turn off the water supply under the sink. After the handle was removed the slotted screw had to be removed along with the white plastic gear. Once removed I saw an old leaking cartridge; To remove the old cartridge was a 17- Requires head and a wrench. The new cartridge was identical and I started threading it by hand and then tightened it with a socket wrench. I used a flashlight to make sure there was no debris and removed the filmic accumulation of dirt. After all this was caught and the water supply was turned on again, there were no more drops. This faucet only requires a quarter turn of the knob to turn the water on or off. The box with the new cartridge indicates that it is made in Germany, where Grohe lamps are made. If this one lasts 12 years like the first one, I'll be happy. Pictured is my Grohe faucet; Your faucet may have a different handle, finish or even be from a different Grohe line. I paid $24.99 for this cartridge at Revain which was by far the best deal I could find.
