Revainrating 5 out of 5

very easily readable BP monitor with good features, decent accuracy

Reviewing: TruMedic Voice Enabled Upper Arm Blood Pressure Monitor - Portable Smart Digital ScreenThis is a pretty machine. It also seems to function well at a very good price. I’ll unpack that below:I’ve had odd blood pressure for over 50 years, ranging from too high to too low, so I need to rely on a good consistent BP monitor. That means an upper-arm unit, practically speaking. All sorts of devices have come out but an upper-arm unit is stil the best. This one inflates fast and has a very readable backlit LCD display, very nice.It also talks to you, which I’ll disable as soon as I dig deep enough into the manual or see it while setting the date and stuff. It’d be a real boon for a blind person, for anyone else not so much. A tiny disembodied voice saying the stuff which is so clearly readable on the LCD isn’t really needed and is a bit distracting. This has a narrower cuff than my prior unit, which is a shame…. in general, a wider cuff gives better readings for all sizes of arm, while a narrower cuff gives worse readings on larger arms. Just the physics of the situation. That said, in back to back readings it was just 4mm systolic high and 3mm diastolic low compared to my calibrated reference BP monitor, which is reasonable variance considering that BP can easily change that much over the course of a minute.90-reading memory is not bad, though these days one could pack in more than that pretty cheaply. Still, acceptable. They included the AC adapter with this, which most units don’t do these days, expecting you to use batteries. For that matter, they also throw in a starter set of carbon-zinc batteries. At the price of under 30 bucks delivered as of this review, I rate this a 5 star product.
