Review on ๐ŸงŠ ArctiClean Kit 1 & 2 + Arctic Silver 5 Thermal Compound + Microfiber Cloth & Tool (Value Pack) by Tim Harris

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great thermal paste with bonus tool.

Before ordering this paste I did some serious research and compared it to AS5, Diamond 7, Diamond 24, GC Extreme and a few others whose names I can't remember. This past proved better than AS5 and swapped places with Diamond 7 depending on the situation and was within 1c or less when tested worse than Diamond 7. It wasn't as good as Diamond 24 or GC Extreme, but they were way more expensive than the MX-4. And in terms of weight, MX-4 was cheaper than all the pastes mentioned. Yes I know you can get an AS5 for around $7 but to be honest it looks like a clone and really doesn't look like a real AS5. I put the MX-4 on the GPU die and laptop GPU memory and the readings were much steeper than stock paste and about 10 degrees below AS5 at idle. When testing with full load, the GPU accelerated to 100 ยฐC, on the MX-4 it only reached 79-80 ยฐC. The included tool made distributing the patch much easier than using a credit card or any other hard plastic card. I'm aware of other methods of applying thermal paste, but I still prefer this method as the best as I'm sure it will cover the entire chip it's running on. I will be buying it from now on, or at least until Diamond 24 or GC Extreme. will fall in price. I'm familiar with the graphite thermal pad and will try it on occasion, for example on my own systems where I don't need to use as much thermal paste.

Pros
  • Sturdy construction
Cons
  • Definitely bad product
