Review on Goodyear Ultra Grip Performance plus 225/50 R17 94H winter by Wiktor Popiel ᠌

It can't be worse! A waste of money.

Bought last fall, received a lot of praise for its handling and stability on various surfaces, but after 6,000 miles driven (including multiple journeys to the Crimea and Adygea as well as infrequent jaunts around the city), the rubber failed to maintain traction. After 4,500 kilometers on the road, the vehicle experienced issues with directional stability and parasitic drift of the front axle in bends on wet terrain after hitting a rut; the service blamed the suspension and wheel alignment, but the manufacturer pointed the finger at the rubber. (The odometer reading on this tire rubber ranges from 19k to 24k miles.) Both wheels' tread surfaces showed the characteristic uneven wear of lamellar rubber blocks. As can be seen in the picture, they were removed in a diagonal fashion. The master had said during the service that this was doable with frequent emergency braking, but in my experience, this was not the case. Yes, and on a rear-engine lightweight Smart, it's really difficult. I managed to save the family's second vehicle. Tires of a different size and style, albeit from the same manufacturer, can be safely installed on the rear axle. (Varying Width Tires) Since the quality of your winter tires directly affects your safety, I cannot stress how strongly I advise against using this particular kind and model. I was unable to use the warranty since I had misplaced the original receipt. Bought it at a tire shop. Congratulations for making the proper decision.

Pros
  • Appearance, advertisements, and "paid" comparison tests and reviews.
Cons
  • Mix in some tread for quality. For three to five thousand, rubber loses all of its useful characteristics and can be discarded.
