Review on Japanese Cleaver Japaknives Kitchen Camping by Kara Love

Revainrating 4 out of 5

I was looking for a cheap hunting knife for hiking, and here it is

Pros: - cheap - suitable for cutting vegetables for outdoor salads - there is a sheath - sharp - 5 mm thick, not easy to scold Disadvantages: - Steel soft, easily scratched by Opinel carbon fiber. But tough enough to hold the edge and make it easy to resharpen - comes with a 25 degree edge. I sharpened it to 17 degrees to account for tilt errors when using a rod hone - the blade is hollow which doesn't make sense here except for aesthetic reasons. Cutting, which is the main reason I bought this knife, would be easier if the cutting edge was either fully convex or fully flat. The "counterfeit" marks are actually an imitation produced by a series of stamps. Definitely nice, but not practical. All in all a great knife for the money.

Pros
  • Always happy
Cons
  • Almost everything is fine
