I have used these on a DA sander to cut and sand away thick orange peel when painting new clear coat. If they're done within 48 hours of drying, they're really good at removing orange peel. If you wait too long the transparency hardens a lot and it's still doable, but it'll be a lot harder and you'll end up using more discs. I started dry with 1000 grit to cut off most of the wave pattern, then switched to 2000 grit with some water and then back to 3000 grit to make it even smoother. These discs held up well and produced a very smooth surface. Be very careful with the edges, actually cover the edges with masking tape so you don't hit them with the DA grinder. .
