I wasn't sure my girls would ever use this thing. They are about five weeks old. I put it in her suitcase after about 3 weeks. I am pleased to report that last night I opened the roof of her mini chicken coop and found all six sleeping together in this roost. This is ideal to start hatching chickens. I will have to use something else in the chicken coop as my girls are growing up and need a wider bar. This works great for young birds.
