Ordered this stick as a birthday present for my son (6 years old). As he unpacked it, he was concerned that we wouldn't take it out of the box inside the house for fear magic might destroy something. I assured him that he would be able to control the magic and he continued. Wow! He squealed with delight as he lit the tip with a wave, and then it turned on. Now he's running around the house casting spells and I need to remind him that he shouldn't practice youth magic outside of Hogwarts and that he has a few more years before he can take classes there. Product wise, it's really fun and seems pretty solid. The key supplied is required to open the battery compartment so that it cannot get into the battery compartment. It's just a fun toy. If your kid is into Harry Potter, I recommend this wand.
