So I bought a 1.25 inch brush (red) and compared the curls/waves to the curling iron I already have (shown in the first picture). The blue side of my face is the waves the new wand (1.25 inch) creates. The green side of my face was made up of waves created with an old wand (tapering, probably half an inch to an inch). I only attached two strands of hair - the rest pulled back. I just wanted to make a quick comparison between the two. After letting the sections cool, I gently combed my fingers through the waves. My hair is generally quite fine, colored and naturally curly/wavy/kinky/messy. I really like my old stick, but wanted a thicker, non-tapered stem so I could create bigger, looser "beachy" waves. I don't think there's a huge difference between how both waves look, but enough that I'm happy and noticing the difference/achieving the desired effect. My hair is also quite long (and I wish it was longer) so I find it difficult to style an entire strand of hair on a narrower shaft. Hope this helps someone!
