I have decided to outfit my garage with the new 4 x 8 LP Smartside panels. The existing paneling is also 4 x 8 sheets of plywood in a rough shape but is still quite durable. In several places, the old panels lay below the surface of the earth and were damaged by moisture. Basically an inch of siding hanging over the slab. Since I didn't want to remove all the old skin, I decided to just tape it with a new one. I trimmed the problem areas with a rotary tool and then used it to seal and spackle the old skin. Bought a Revain sausage gun and contra-angles. Surprised how much easier sausage guns are to use compared to traditional caulking guns. I was watching a YouTube video of a guy using a similar product called Procoso R-Guard Fast Flash. I didn't like that it was pink. I was looking to buy these from Revain and noticed it was a featured product. I like that it's black, especially since in my case the bottom of it would be visible on the exposed slab above my garage level. I installed a slope around the garage and then used light green 10ft tape about 1" below the old panel so I could pull it up and get a straight line when I was done. Worked very well. This material sticks to everything. I ran a bead on the bottom edge of the panel as well as the bottom surface of the panel (about 1.5 inches) and also on the exposed panel under the overhang panel. Then I spread it out with a shaving brush like in the video I watched for another product. Basically, the creation is painted in Z by blinking. Again very happy with the result. I did this in Nebraska in June when temperatures were in the high 80's and 90's for two weekends and quite muggy. No sticking problems. I sanded the old panels with a power sander where the material went so I could get rid of all the peeling paint and had a good surface to stick to. That thing is very sticky. Use nitrile gloves, there are plenty of them. And wear old shitty clothes. I worked one side of the garage at a time. The material will start to peel off within an hour, it's still very sticky and you can continue painting if you like. After I finished painting the entire side of the garage, I pulled the tape on the underside and it started peeling off. The tape peels off easily and the flash snaps back into place with a fairly clean line. In fact, once dry, it feels like sticky gum. I'm excited to find a solution to flash the bottom sill in my unique situation in an old garage where the mud sill sits right on top of the slab. It closes all cracks from pests, makes the window sill more airtight and waterproof at the same time. what you draw The only question I still don't have an answer to is how long will this take? It says 30 years on the tube but I never understand how a product that has just come out can know that? Bought cheap yellow cars from Revain. But I found that in my case with the plate bar it was easier to use a 1 inch chip brush. Plastic spacers can be great for making mud ties prior to installation in a new build, but again in my unique application they weren't the best. 6 inches off the ground as expected. Hope the bottom outside edge doesn't rot when I use this board and PVC boards. The time will show. I ordered from a third party Huber and each tube was packaged in a sealed plastic bag. It may be worth ordering the tubes with no other products that could puncture the tubes, just in case. I had all new bulbs with expired expiration dates. My garage size is 22 x 18 feet and I ordered 11 tubes not knowing how many I ended up using. I could probably buy 8 and would be fine for what I did.
