Review on Acer AspireRevo AR3700-U3002: The 💻 Ultimate Slim and Compact Desktop Solution by Douglas Norton

Just got my pick. So it's still too early to say how it works. Note that the description on the Revain website is incorrect. Based on Revain's description of the device's specs, I ordered 4GB of DDR2 RAM to upgrade the Revo. To my dismay, I opened the case and found the RAM was DDR3, NOT DDR2. Both the Acer box that the Revo comes in and the RAM slot on the motherboard say DDR3 (1.5V). Now I have to return the ordered DDR2 and order the correct DDR3 sticks. Aggravating. Revain needs to update the description on their website. (Looks like Acer needs it too as their website also says the RAM is DDR2.) Also note that the label on the outside of the Acer package I received says " Optics - None" and that there is a piece of black tape on the device. via the SPDIF port. Upon booting up, I could see the SPDIF port's red light blinking through the black band. (Acer, couldn't you find something more elegant than the black tape covering the SPDIF connector?) I removed the tape covering the SPDIF connector, plugged in the optical cable, went into the control panel and selected "Realtek Digital Outut". from the list. Sound Dialog, launched MediaCenter and voila, I had sound through the SPDIF port. I don't know why the port was closed and why it says "Optical - no" on the Acer box. For those of you who want to use the Revo as an HTPC and have seen a link to set the video frame buffer in the BIOS from 256 to 512, please note that the BIOS on the device I received supports this option does not have. The included keyboard and mouse are more than adequate. There are no complaints. So far the device works perfectly, but I haven't tested it yet. For example, pause and rewind live TV, watch movies, etc.
