Does the job as expected and protects the body well. Beware of the sizing as other reviews have warned. We ordered size XL for an adult male (175 lbs, 6'0", waist approx. 34". It fits properly after being adjusted where the horizontal straps go through the vertical loop, although the cut is slightly below that upper ribs. Maybe we'd better go for a bigger one. Movement is a bit limited, so it takes some practice to move like you would expect in this case. Again, this isn't unexpected, and the armor is strong enough to reduce the punching power significantly.I haven't tried hard, full contacts, but took some heavy hits while entering a karate tournament with an existing rib injury and did very well.
