Review on πŸ‚ Thule SnowPack Large Ski/Snowboard Rack: Safely Carry 6 pairs of Skis or 4 Snowboards in Silver by Chad Moser

Revainrating 5 out of 5

This is by far the best ski rack I have ever owned.

This is the best ski carrier I've ever had. They are large, very well constructed, very easy to install and work great. Install first. Really easy. The hardest part was getting the rubber back onto the frame after I pulled it back to install the bolts. But the instructions were accurate and there were enough extra parts that I believe could be fitted to a variety of vehicles. Installation took about 20 minutes which is great as I expected to struggle on the car. Once installed it looks good and is very stable. Thick rubber to keep skis secure when folded. My favorite element is the spring-loaded hinge on the other side. It's hard to explain, but it's not a solid hinge. So if you have thick skis on the other side, that side pulls up so the near side isn't preventing the skis on that side from closing or securing. This works very well. Once closed you can push it down to keep it closed with a ratchet-like locking mechanism to keep it really secure. And then you lock it with a key that is both closed and locked to the car. When taking off, unlock and press the button and it will open. We put 4 sets of skis and 4 sets of poles on ours with no problems/space issues. I installed it on my Odyssey minivan that had crossbars. They are required for installation or some kind of crossbar. I think there is some sort of Thule mounting system that comes with it if you don't have crossbars.

Pros
  • Easy assembly without tools
Cons
  • Big and chunky
