So, for those who care, the packaging came a little crumpled but not punctured, and there was no damage to the mattress pad inside. When I unboxed it I found it was fully sealed and vented which was nice. There was very little chemical smell, which I didn't notice until I opened the filling for the first time and literally stuck my face inside. Otherwise no smell. The only thing that annoyed me a little was the way it was advertised. Made me think it has no polyester fill? Now I feel a little naive for thinking that way, but I honestly thought it was cotton filled. The tags say otherwise. I put it on my mattress and let it drain on its own for a few hours before putting my new sheets on top. MY PROBLEM: My room is quite small (about 12 feet x 12 feet) and I sleep in a 14 inch queen bed. gel mattress. My mattress keeps the heat in my room so strong it almost reheats my room if I leave the window open for 30 minutes and close it lol. I also have a 20 gallon aquarium and a snake. who lives in the closet of my room to create a more comfortable microclimate for him but less hot for me. My snake needs heat lamps so while he's in the closet to catch some my room mostly sits around 70-75F I also have a power hungry gaming PC in my room that puts out a lot of heat. Not only that, my mattress is not breathing and of course I sleep hot myself so you can see the problem here. Even though it's quite cold outside right now, in bed I'm sweating what's going on in my room and I can't stand it! I was looking for something that would give me a little breather when I'm sleeping without breaking the bank. Still I went broke because sleep is important to me and quality matters! I bought a few other items besides this one. MY SOLUTION: Replace my very old sheets (300tc cotton sheets) with something that will keep me dry and comfortable and replace my old mattress topper that was pretty flat with something fluffier and newer. and replace my duvet cover with a polyester fill which really doesn't breathe and makes me sweat in the middle of the night. For those suffering from the same issues, polyester and microfiber are the worst things! I'll tell you what I found that really worked. MY RESULTS: I only slept on it 1 night but the difference is day and night! I mean I woke up nasty and sweaty so many nights and after the first night I woke up dry and clean and feeling lol! It is great! So I would definitely say that this mattress topper will help you stay cool when sleeping on a memory foam mattress. The only thing I didn't like was that sleeping on a polyester pad sometimes causes pressure points that make it uncomfortable. So I tossed and flipped this rug, and I deducted a few stars for comfort, but that doesn't mean it will with everyone. I'm a heavier person myself and very used to my mattress efficiently doing all the work for my comfort. I thought maybe it won't happen because my bed is so cool and comfortable to begin with, but she did it the first night anyway. However, I noticed that when I woke up to change, I immediately felt comfortable and my bed was always cool. The place I put it on will only be comfortably warm, not hot like a heating pad. I firmly believe that breathable padding on a memory foam mattress is absolutely essential for hygiene. I'm still 100% sweaty in bed without this mattress pad complete with the other stuff I have. Now I don't sweat at all. I highly recommend this mattress topper. If you even think about it, just do it! I don't see anyone really sorry. I did a lot of crappy research and spent weeks spending my money on something to solve my problems. You can rest assured that I've already done all the work for you! I replaced my sheets with 100% cotton jersey sheets. I will provide a link as they are not all the same. I also replaced the duvet cover with a 100% cotton jersey from the same brand. Just waiting for my luxury quilt to arrive which I will also be linking to. , Queen size, except for the duvet. I plan on tucking this blanket into my queen size blanket to create a beautiful fluffy fully filled blanket because I absolutely love it and appreciate a fluffy blanket to hold on to when I'm out of heat sleep. Jersey cotton is VERY breathable. You can see through it when you hold it, so it will definitely provide maximum airflow with this mattress topper. It also feels soft but not oily like some. I'd say it's pretty close to the feel of a regular t-shirt. Does a great job of keeping you dry and comfortable. Doesn't store heat. Also, to my surprise, I got a free gift from this brand that I haven't claimed yet. But I'm not sure if they support it as far as I can tell, so *shrug* if they do, it's even cooler!
