I like this stone. Yes, it needs to be flattened before each use, but it flattens out very quickly. I use a slab of granite precision ground to a flat surface and just use wet/dry sandpaper on it and it flattens out in just a minute or two. I love the feedback I'm getting from this stone. If you're at the right angle, you can feel it. Also, for some odd reason, I like the way this stone smells. Very artificial smell but I like how it smells like petrol :-) I've had this stone for 2 years now and I still have a lot of material left. But it depends on how often you sharpen it. I just recently added a 4k brick. I don't really feel the difference between this and their 4k brick. I have more testing to do but 4k doesn't seem any less smooth than 6k.
