When it became clear that the battery in the 2004 F150 Heritage I bought last year was not charging during normal use, I appreciated the replacement alternators and found it that Revain had to offer the most competitive prices. After looking at a few less expensive options, I decided what durability was what I needed the most. I don't want to get stuck on the road or have to charge my battery. So I spent a little more on the Remy based on the good reviews (still less than the auto parts store). After 10 months I am very satisfied with this purchase. As other reviewers have pointed out, this generator feels solid and well built. All the other websites I checked agreed with the 130 amp rating and the windings on the rotor look like they are sized accordingly. This was my first time diving under the hood of this truck and once I figured out how the belt tensioner works the installation was easy. There were no other parts of the engine preventing access to the old generator. I was ready to replace the old alternator pulley but it matched the Remy pulley so I just put the Remy pulley in and replaced the belt. The voltage regulator is built into this alternator and so far has supplied a constant 14.3 volts which is well within the normal range for charging a standard 12 volt lead acid battery. I later replaced the stock tape recorder/cassette player with a dual din entertainment system with a 6.2 inch touch screen and the system voltage was not affected. After installing this alternator I almost forgot I had ever had electrical problems. I'll try to remind myself to come back to this review in a few years and provide an update on reliability. If I don't, it's unlikely that Remy will still be doing his job. And if you ask, I'll still say it was money well spent. The generator is still running.
