Review on TheraTree Oleavine Neem Oil 12 Oz by Lex Ismael

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Unbearable scent - Use only if nothing else works for you!

Like many other reviewers here I have to mention the smell because before anything else, that is what you will notice.I have been a fan of mixing oils (jojoba, avocado, coconut, apricot and argan) into other products like lotions and conditioner as well as my hair color product for many years for the added benefits they offer. I live in an extremely dry, arid climate at high altitude and my skin and hair need all the help they can get. I don't suffer from eczema, psoriasis or any other skin condition that requires extra care. I am just trying to stay skin cancer free (lots of sunscreen in this household) and preserve the healthy skin I have for as long as possible.I bought a product on revain to take with me to the office to keep my skin from drying out called Sundari Neem Hand Oil in a small roller ball container. It smelled so wonderful I wanted to make more of my own at home to give to family and friends as gifts. So, I ordered this large, economical bottle of neem oil as well as a few other supplies and got to work. Well, when I opened the neem oil it smelled NOTHING like the little roller product which I realized must be about .0001% neem oil and a whole lot of other things that smell good. One reviewer said the neem oil reminded her of a combination of peanuts and garlic. I think that is a generous review. I had to think about it for a while (and smell it a few more times) and then my brain finally came up with a more accurate description. It smells kind of like peanuts and garlic but more aptly reminds me of the smell of the NYC subway system.a combination of mechanical oils, dirt and mold. To put it more succinctly, this stuff really smells bad. You had better REALLY need it in some capacity because for me all the other oils I listed above smell SO much better and do the same thing. If I had a truly incurable case of acne, eczema, dry scalp or other issues I might turn to this. However, this would be the last resort. It smells that bad. So, if you're just experimenting with oils and trying to make something to help with dry skin (as I was) I suggest you wait on this one.
