.but I didn't touch those suction cups. Did you ever buy a bow and arrow with a suction cup or a suction cup arrow as a kid? Did they have lousy suction cups that wouldn't stick to anything? This thread reminded me of that. Anything on the surface of the valve and they fall off. You can see from the YouTube video that some people can use these things. I'm not one of them. And to be honest, having discovered the workaround, I don't know why anyone WILL want to use it. After working with this for several hours, here's what I did: (a) I wedged the end of the valve stem into a cordless drill. (b) I ripped the suction cup off one end of one of these lapping machines (c) I used the rough wooden end to press it against the valve surface and thereby force it into the lapping paste. (d) I turned the valve. some time ahead, then some time back. (e) All of my valves had a bright, consistent, even circle pattern with very little fuss. It worked great. So skip the lapping and just use a dowel or screwdriver handle to depress the valve while turning it with the drill.
