installed this on his boat with a new 48 inch antenna. The scan function is not like the old radios where you press scan mode and when someone is talking it will stop on that channel. This one requires you to program the channels you want to scan by simply going to that station and holding down the scan button until it beeps, just like programming your car stereo. The company sent it quickly and free of charge, in fact it arrived earlier than expected. I gave 4 starts because for some reason the 3rd time I got the boat out there is now a popping noise. I'm not sure what's causing this poor testing of my ground wires. Otherwise it's good value for money.
