I bought one of these and one of the Halo version to replace a similar light. In the broken model, the plastic part of the bracket is torn and broken off, so that it is only held in the ceiling by one of the two side brackets. Even that bracket was cracked. As it turned out, the broken model was Nikor's. This is an important thing to keep in mind when it comes to how they come together. The metal springs that attach it to the ceiling are attached to a plastic frame, and the Halo's design is decidedly superior. The Halo's metal arms are threaded through the hole and then pulled out, allowing the weight of the linkage to rest on the entire block. This plastic is also thicker on the Halo model. Nikor presses on the edge and on the single notch so the force is directed to fewer points and that spot (where the plastic is also thinner) is more likely to break. Given the similar price point, Halo is the way to go.
