Review on Sony XB950B1 Extra Bass Wireless Headphones: Enhanced Sound and App Control in Sleek Black Design by Amit Amit ᠌

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Full compliance with the manufacturer's assurances, high quality.

Reasoning about headphones is very subjective, it has happened more than once that the reviews I read do not correspond to the real listening experience. So I will express my personal opinion, without claiming to be the ultimate truth, while strongly recommending listening to headphones before buying in person, especially for their rather considerable cost. XB950BT give a good panorama and fairly flat frequency range with some emphasis on bass (even without activating Extra Bass, which is likely to be appreciated mostly by Beats fans %)). I compared the headphones with a pair of bluetooth analogs in the same price category - none of them live up to the 950s in sound. Moreover, after reading a few reviews here, I doubted my choice a little and listened to the alternative options recommended by one of the users. What can I say, the Sony MDR-10RBT clearly "bulges out" the mids, the sound is clear, but as for me, too sharp, plus the high frequencies are also too emphasized. The cost of MDR-10RBT is almost 2 times higher than XB950BT. The recommended 1RBTs are no longer on sale, I listened to the MDR-1A (as far as I understand, an improved version of the MDR-1R, which differ from 1RBT in the absence of bluetooth) - they sound very, very worthy, but the difference in sound, again, is not commensurate with the difference in price - MDR-1A (without bluetooth) cost 2.5-3 times more than the 950s and make sense when using a completely different technique than a smartphone / player with bluetooth. In general, the sound quality of the XB950BT is very, very worthy in its price category, deep bass is combined with well-developed mids and pronounced highs without any obvious preferences, the sound produced is quite neutral, but at the same time juicy and "tasty".

Pros
  • Great sound, impressive looks, comfortable and ergonomic fit, long battery life, NFC connection, full playback/volume control directly from the headphones, work as a headset without any nuances and claims.
Cons
  • When connected via bluetooth in silence, when manipulating the smartphone, a slight background noise appears, which disappears when music starts playing. Perhaps some nuances of my smartphone or a specific instance of headphones, but, in general, it is not critical and does not bother.

Since I managed to take them for a promotion for 5,000, and not for the price that they are now, they suit me for 5.
