Nowhere in the description is it mentioned that the earth and neutral outputs are connected to earth. This is not an isolation transformer in the usual sense of the word. RIP is my test device.

Worked great. I sent it back because it didn't do what I wanted. I had an electrical problem and this device did not solve it. Turns out my problem was unrelated to anything that this power supply could fix.

Loud with no load, with 150 W load and with 300 W load. It hums quite loudly, which indicates an inferior transformer. It doesn't get very hot, though, so if you can tolerate the noise, you'll probably be fine. Mine comes back, I like it when the room is quiet.

Until you're done. What can I say, the device is high quality, strong and solidly built. Since the mod that turns it into a real isolation transformer requires opening the box and changing some wire connections, I won't explain it here; There are many posts/videos about the process. BUT after making a simple mod this is a great block for electronic repair work etc.

Although this device is NOT an isolation transformer, it CAN BE MODIFIED by disconnecting the ground wire at INPUT GROUND and disconnecting it from chassis ground and wrapping the free end of the wire with electrical tape. Then turn off the electrical ground that powers the SOCKETS! Then disconnect the ground wire (GREEN) from the (WHITE) wire of the NEUTRAL (WHITE) wire of the transformer input. Wrap the free ends of the ground wires with tape and DO NOT connect all the green wires together…

1) It was damaged, the metal case was dented in transit. 2) I actually called Tripp Lite and asked them if this model uses a toroidal transformer or an EI core transformer. I'm reviewing the product vs shipping as it arrived with dented legs. It's a 25 pound brick, please wrap the damn thing right! WTF. My rating reflects the use of this product in an audio system.
