I increased this, loosened the screw to remove the device so I could use the side of the car seat to gently bend the gooseneck to close enough for the position I wanted, tightened the screw a bit, then readjusted . Do it little by little because you don't want to tightly squeeze or bend this gooseneck unless you need it for your application. Sounds long, but it took maybe 3-4 minutes. After getting close to the desired orientation of this unit, I tightened the seat screw, added the phone holder portion on top, and then made small, final position adjustments. Confused that the mount is plastic. Pull yourself together and show me one that is NOT plastic. I find it durable and my wife loves it. Of course, you can sacrifice a cup holder if you're too afraid to use a wrench and common sense. I think cup holders are too valuable for their intended purpose to waste that space on cup-mounted phone holders unless absolutely necessary. And guess what, those cup holders are plastic, too. It didn't take more than fifteen minutes; from finding the correct seat bolt ratchet size, shaping the mounting bracket, adjusting the gooseneck, tightening the bolt securely, attaching the phone stand and making final adjustments to the brackets alignment. I installed this in a 2004 Sequoia on the driver's passenger side through the driver's console and the range is perfect. It also doesn't take up passengers' legroom. It swivels and works great on the passenger side as well if needed. In case you're not familiar, the dashboard and console of the first-gen Sequoias are rounded and curved, and almost every area doesn't quite fit a phone. Intervention in management, in my experience. That's the right decision. Carrying a phone or GPS on the dashboard is illegal ("as a handicap”) in some areas. Otherwise, this is another example of rethinking the simple and making things more complicated than they should be. It is much more likely that the problem here is with the installation. If you have a tiny saddle, like I had a 14mm saddle, it might be wise to use a shim to increase the mounting area at the end of the crow's foot mount. This device is worth the money. Most others will fail, break something, or get in the way. 5 Stars. I am so pleased (and so is my wife) that I bought it for my van. They are "commercially available" in quality and durability, but are perfect for any car, truck, van or SUV without getting in the way while saving valuable space.
