Review on Fermtech Regular Siphon Tubing - Clear, Efficient Hydraulics, Pneumatics & Plumbing Solution by Vincent Poolaw

Last resort works on pipes, tubes and hoses

This siphon, while working, leaves a lot to be desired. First I ordered a 5/16 siphon and received 8 feet of 1/2 inch pipe. So it didn't work. Luckily I ordered a stainless steel fill tube with a 5/16 tube which ultimately saved the day. Attaching the hose to the spout wasn't difficult. I heated the tip and pressed on the first try. After much trial and error I finally got the siphon working and was able to pump out my full 2 gallons of 16th century mead. I cleaned it with warm water. Soapy water and rinsed several times before rinsing in cold water and cleaning inside and out. After drying it, I noticed that the tip was discolored and cloudy on the inside. It looks like my alcohol is damaging the plastic as others have reported, but my mead is 15% alcohol at best. visible damage. The bottom line is, if you have to pour or bottle something in a pinch, it's fine, but it's not worth it in the long run. If you plan to create multiple batches, look elsewhere.
