Review on πŸ”Œ Arris Touchstone CM8200A DOCSIS 3.1 Ultra-Fast Gigabit Cable Modem (Black) - 32X8 by Randy Salgado

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great gigabit modem, compatible with Comcast and others

The Arris CM8200A is identical to the much more expensive retail Arris SB8200 which is certified for gigabit service by Comcast, Cox, TWC and other cable providers. It can be used with Comcast Xfinity and other services instead of its retail sibling to avoid paying a monthly fee to rent a gateway. I was able to set up a new Comcast service (Xfinity Gigabit) using this modem in four easy steps: * Plug the coax cable into the wall outlet and the modem's coax jack, then plug the ethernet cable into port 1 of the modem and the other end into the router (or directly into a computer for temporary use). Connect the power cord to the modem and wait a few minutes for all 4 LEDs to light up* Go to the Xfinity activation page (which may load automatically) and call the number provided during the hardware activation process* Inform the representative about the model of your modem number is Arris SB8200 (not CM8200A) and read the MAC address printed on the label if it asks for MAC or serial number*. The modem receives the new settings and restarts. After a few minutes, it should automatically reboot a second time to install the firmware update. After that, your internet service should work. The modem should be listed as "AR SB8200" in your account information. If you're having connection problems, go to 192.168.100.1 to check your modem diagnostics. The MAC address of the modem is also available on the diagnostics page.
